2024 Spring Fling
The 43rd annual Spring Fling on June 2, 2024, was a success, despite once again having weather issues. It RAINED all day on Saturday June 1st when the routes were to be marked.
Chalk does not stay on wet rainy roads but there was a back-up plan: Sally, Eric, and Jo Dell placed signs with directional arrows on almost all the routes. Early Sunday morning, Joe H. placed the remaining signs and chalk marked the entire 44-mile route.
Sunday morning started out with fog and drizzle so there were only 81 riders. However, those 81 riders had a great ride. In addition to the wonderful routes, the sun came out and it was not too hot and not too windy.
REI provided a mechanic who assisted several riders with mechanical problems that were more than just flat tires.
The rest stop crews did a fantastic job: the Monee group was led by Lai and the Dog Park group was led by Kathy.
There were riders from many different clubs: Joliet Bicycle Club, Major Taylor Chicago, Black Girls Do Bike, The Green Mile Club, T.W.O., and Smokin’ Spokes. Several participants posted reviews on their Facebook Pages:
